handmade skirt love

I made the Simplicity 2258 skirt last night! It was easy and I think it came out well. I had never sewn with rayon fabric before so I didn't know what to expect. It was actually not bad at all. I bought some more on clearance last night when I went to buy some elastic. I think I'll make this skirt or a swingy-er skirt out of it. That's really my only complaint is that it's not as swingy as I would want. Do you know what I mean by "swingy" or do I sound crazy? haha

And it has pockets! Not really sure what to do with the ties yet as far as tying it the "right way" to have it lay flat against the skirt. I'll figure it out but if you have any suggestions or other skirt patterns you would like to share, leave a comment!

What a pretty room. I like the interesting corner the ceiling creates.

Lime means glow in the dark!

Lime also means margaritas!

Cool hair color! It seems like every week I found someone who has the colorway color :)

sewing my own clothes again.

I saw a post over on I Go By Katie about patterns and sewing your own clothes. I have been wanting to get back into making my own clothes for a long time. So, I went to Joann's and got some new patterns! They were on sale for $1.99 each, some of them regular $17! I got a steal! I also looked at some clearance fabric they had even though I do have plenty of vintage fabrics. I like to look anyway. I found two different ones that are perfect for the projects I'm planning. One is a red rayon with big pink flowers. Perfect for a skirt to wear with a tucked in white top. I also got a mustard yellow with a winter flower pattern that will be great as a sleeveless blouse to wear with linen pants this summer. I can't wait to get started! I can add another to-do on my spring break list.

I'm making the "C" skirt with this fabric.

I'm thinking "C" blouse on this one.

Oh, and Sadie came over to say hi while I was taking photos :)

Happy Sunday!

how hard can it be?

Did you guys hear about this??

"If you ever wished you could tie balloons to your house to finally explore the wilds of South America like you've always wanted without having to pack one suitcase, you're in luck... it is possible. Well, sort of.

All you need is a team of scientists, engineers, world-class balloon pilots, a 16X16 ft house, 300 balloons that fill up to 8 ft tall when inflated, and the National Geographic Channel and you're all set! Easy as pie.

Setting a new world record for the largest balloon cluster flight ever attempted, the entire aircraft from top to bottom was a whopping 10-stories high, made it to an alititude of 10,000 feet, and flew for about an hour. You can catch the full story when the new series "How Hard Can it Be?" premieres later this fall on the National Geographic Channel."

SO awesome!!

a little glimpse into my life told in pictures

I have SO many pictures on my phone. I wanted to share a couple of them that say a little about me. Some of them are old and some of them are new.

The restroom door at Bistrot Zinc. Everything there made me swoon

Lover of good wine.

View from our favorite movie theater.

I'm a dancing fool. Also, I found out I am very good at flippy cup. Haha oh, college...

Cool Mad Men style bar in Chicago

On my way to NC to see my best friend! It seemed like the whole world was covered in snow.

Getting my first ever pedicure. Can you tell I didn't know what to expect?

Lake Shore Drive at night. There are few views better than this of the city.

What is the proper way to drink a rum bucket?

These stairs were like a catch-all for the fall leaves. This is on campus at my school

A homemade felt Krabby Patty I made for a special little girl who loves Spongebob more than I love most things.
