weekend explorer

I went to the Chicago History Museum yesterday with a friend and it was so fun! I learned tons. I got a museum pass from the CPL so we got in for FREE! I love the library system here! I also bought four new books to read in the Museum store and they were all on sale. I will be going back soon because it seems like they have new exhibitions all the time. They have a couple free days now and then too. I LOVE museums. Working in one is my dream job. That or the Library of Congress.






The night before, we went to a really nice restaurant on the north side, Le Colonial. It was so delicious! I will be going there again for sure. The decor was 1920's French Vietnamese. So magical! It's so dark in there though so I couldn't take any pictures.



It was a good weekend! And it's not even over! I love living in this city!

I love this $3 ring I got from Forever 21! I also found the nail polish there too. I'm in love with jewel tones right now.

Yesterday I went downtown because we wanted to walk. We could walk in our neighborhood but there isn't much to see. So, we hopped on the train. One of my favorite things to do is the gigantic Macy's to look at things that cost a bajillion dollars. Specifically, shoes. Shoes that I will never buy *sigh* and I try them on because I like the way they look on my feet. I'm such a girl sometimes.

I am devoting a section in my 2011 journal to shoes. Because I can. And because I love them so.







pS: I can't think of a better title than shoes (haha!) they speak for themselves!

2011

Finally, the holidays are over! 2010 was a terrible year for me. My mom passed away in October from brain cancer after finding out in May that she had it. It was so sudden and shocking. The year was really rough and I'm sure it will be for a while but I know she would want me to keep going and keep being a firecracker just like her. I miss her so much and I always will but 2011 is about making the most out of my situation and trying to find happiness in the little things. I had a rough time over the last few weeks with the end of the semester from hell and the holidays but I'm back and one of my goals for this year is to blog more (here).

So, happy new year all!

I consider myself to be a good gift giver. This Christmas I am knitting, painting and stitching (I can't post pictures yet...) but everyone keeps asking me what I want. I never ever know the answer to this question. Well, I thought about it:

I really started to hate the old blog. It didn't feel like me anymore. A lot has changed since I started blogging. A lot has changed just this year. New posts coming soon. I'm happy with this new place.
